Jyväskylä, Finland to Host 2011 European Health and Fitness Forum | | 20.01.2010 | Located 270 kilometers north of Helsinki in central Finland, the city of Jyväskylä is proud to be the host of the 2011 FISAF European Health and Fitness Forum. Situated at the northern tip of Lake Päijänne and surrounded by lakes and nature, Jyväskylä, with a population of 130,000 is one of Finland’s primary growth regions. With an estimated 30,000 students, sports and fitness is one of the main recreational activities of the city and region.
The University of Jyväskylä’s Faculty of Sports Science is the only academic institution in Finland educating experts in the field of sport. Research in sport and physical recreation is conducted by the Research Institute for Olympic Sports KIHU, and the Foundation for Sport and Health Sciences LIKES, as well as the Sports Laboratory of the University of Jyväskylä. The city also has the distinction of having produced two world champions: Tuuli Matinsalo and Tiia Piili and current world bronze medallist Irina Matilainen.
The two day forum plans to feature experts from business and research areas related to wellness and fitness. Come and joint the vibrant and innovative atmosphere as the world’s top minds from wellness and fitness gather in one location to network and share the industries’ latest trends, concepts and ideas.
