Jyväskylä is located in the heart of the beautiful Finnish lake district, and Central Finland’s varied and unspoilt nature starts close to the city. The area offers numerous opportunities for recreation to complement a congress or conference.
In summer you can enjoy a cruise on glorious Lake Päijänne, or try hiking, biking, boating, fishing, and open-air dancing - they are all an excellent way of relaxing. In summer several golf courses are also open. One Finnish speciality, smoke sauna, just has to be tried. Finns have a passion for summer cottages in peaceful locations, usually on a lake shore, and these are also available for visitors.
In wintertime, both in Jyväskylä and just outside the city, there are various ski resorts for downhill and cross-country enthusiasts. Another excellent way to spend a winter’s day is on ice. In the city there are ice rinks and a 2.4 km skating circuit created each winter on the ice of Lake Jyväsjärvi. There are also several places in the region to go ice hole swimming.
Culture lovers can enjoy a concert by a Finnish composer, or a voyage into the creations of world-famous architect Alvar Aalto.
All these interesting activities can be found close by the city. There are many options, choose the one that suits your event best!
